80 Series
ClearCoats
Gloss / Matte

The CARDIP 80 Series ClearCoats are permanently elastic 2K high-solid clearcoats for the CARDIP Peelable Paint System. It is processed like a conventional clearcoat and can be sanded and polished in the hardened state. The CARDIP peelable paint clearcoat achieves a very high gloss level and runs like a conventional modern clearcoat.

The distinctive feature of this special clearcoat is a lacquer-like feel and clear reflections, with very easy processing and enormous stability. The film coatings sealed with the 2K UltraGloss peelable paint clearcoat can be permanently cleaned in the automatic car wash and can also be reconditioned by detailing. The clearcoat is crosslinked 2:1 with the Hardener 8070.

Sandable and polishable
with standardized
finish

CARDIP 80 Series ClearCoats are permanently elastic and at the same time hard on the surface, so that after drying, a paint finish can be applied by sanding and polishing to achieve the best possible result.

Use your existing system in the field of standardized finishing for CARDIP Peelable Paint as well.

A special development

CARDIP 80 Series ClearCoats offer an optimum balance of efficiency, performance and user-friendliness. The clearcoats for peelable paint are tuned for permanent elasticity with maximum surface hardness, and is therefore particularly suitable for overcoating elastic peelable paint.

Mechanical + Chemical resistance

In combination with the CARDIP Hardener 8070, the CARDIP 80 Series ClearCoats achieve outstanding crosslinking, making the surface of the peelable paint resistant to weathering, UV radiation and mechanical effects such as scratches.

High gloss level
and optimum flow

The CARDIP ClearCoat UltraGloss 8080 achieves a gloss level of 60-70E/20° according to DIN EN ISO 4816 and thus achieves a high-gloss surface finish that cannot be distinguished from a modern factory coating. The matte Version 8091 achieves a gloss level of 15-25E/60°, just like a factory matte paint. In addition, both versions can be mixed with each other to achieve effects such as semi-gloss or semi-matte.

Low-VOC
High-Solid-
Formula

CARDIP 80 Series ClearCoats have a very high solids content and falls below the EU limits for volatile substances. This makes the clearcoats highly efficient and environmentally friendly at the same time.

The CARDIP 80 Series ClearCoats are one component of the CARDIP Peelable Paint System and not a stand-alone product. For a proper functioning the use of additional products is necessary. These include:

Frequently asked questions FAQ - Peelable paint clearcoat

1. Can a conventional clearcoat also be used to overcoat CARDIP peelable paint BaseCoats?

The CARDIP peelable paint system is made up of carefully matched components, and we strongly discourage using conventional clear coats on peelable paint. Standard automotive clear coats tend to harden significantly, and the stark difference in hardness between the flexible peelable paint and the rigid clear coat can cause stress cracks. Additionally, certain substances, such as the solvents in some clear coats, can cause the peelable paint substrate to swell, negatively impacting its functionality. Because clear coats vary widely, we cannot universally recommend them for use with CARDIP peelable paint BaseCoats. Moreover, the spray film must meet additional functional requirements, such as being removable, which conventional lacquers do not typically have to meet.

2. Which thinner should be used for CARDIP 80 Series ClearCoats?

Only the proprietary CARDIP 80s Thinner may be used for CARDIP 80 Series peelable paint clearcoat.

3. Which spray gun / nozzle size should be used for the CARDIP 80 Series ClearCoats?

CARDIP 80 Series ClearCoats can be applied with a standard clearcoat gun, e.g. a SATA 5500B RP with a nozzle size of 1.2 - 1.4 mm.

4. Are CARDIP 80 Series ClearCoats peelable on its own?

The peelable paint clearcoat is an important part of the overall layer build-up and contributes to the peelability and resistance of the peelable paint. It is not peelable on its own, but only in combination with the CARDIP BaseCoats Aqua+ PPS Pro Clear 5050 or 7080, applied using the patented multi-layer process.

5. Can the CARDIP 80 Series ClearCoats be sanded and reapplied?

A classic "intermediate sanding" or "flow-coat" as with standard clearcoats is also possible with the CARDIP 80 Series ClearCoats.
